The Nova Scotia Regulator of Psychology is dedicated to fostering an equitable, inclusive, and accessible regulatory environment, characterized by diverse representation, that promotes culturally responsive care for all Nova Scotians.
We acknowledge that equity-deserving groups, especially Mi’kmaw, Indigenous, and Black Nova Scotians and Nova Scotians of African descent, have experienced systemic barriers, health disparities, and earned distrust in health professional systems.
We recognize that the history of psychology as a discipline includes the perpetuation of colonial and Eurocentric frameworks that have caused harm to marginalized communities. We recognize that these histories continue to shape professional systems and policies.
We are committed to considering the impact of our regulatory policies and practices on equity, accessibility, and public protection. We are committed to ongoing engagement with marginalized communities and reflection on our role as the regulator.
We strive to reflect Nova Scotia’s diverse communities in our work, ensuring that our regulatory processes, including the work of our committees, uphold fairness and respect for the public we serve.
