I have a question about my supervision requirements while on the Candidate Register.

As I transferred from Ontario with 11.5 months and over 1400 hours of supervised practice already completed, does my current supervisor have to observe me live in practice (or view recordings) and/or speak directly with my current employer?I consider my circumstances to be somewhat unusual given my extent of practice in Ontario. My supervisor has viewed the evaluations completed by my Ontario supervisors and has observed me directly while I was a resident in the Halifax program (approximately 16 months ago).

I appreciate any clarification you can provide on this matter.

We understand that you are requesting the NSRP grant credit for prior supervision. The Registration Subcommittee of the NSRP will review the documentation provided on your behalf by the CPO at its next meeting on February 19th. You also note that your supervisor has observed you in the past in another context from NSRP supervision.

Notwithstanding the above, Candidates who have completed supervision in another jurisdiction are still expected to ensure the same procedural requirements are met with their NSRP Supervisor as would occur for all candidates in NS. The NSRP would expect there to be at least one instance of employer contact and direct observation. Supervision will need to continue until completion of the EPPP, Oral Exam, and you are rated as ready for independent practice by your NSRP supervisor. We trust this should allow ample time for the completion of all necessary supervision requirements.
