I have an inquiry regarding the transfer of registration from Ontario. I am beginning my year of supervised practice as a Psychologist in Ontario. My partner and I are looking at re-locating to the Halifax area. I am wondering:1.if we re-locate prior to completion of my registration in Ontario, will the time/supervision/experience I have accrued as a supervised practice member be recognized, or will I need to start the process over again?2.If I complete the EPPP in Ontario this year, is there an ‘expiry date’ of this credential if I then seek registration in Halifax? If so, is there any possibility of an extension of the validity of a completed EPPP if the registration process is delayed due to a parental leave?3. Is there an exam based on provincial law that is required for registration in NS (comparable to the JEE we have in Ontario)?

1. Applicants can request that their supervised practice completed elsewhere be credited towards the requirements in NS. In order to qualify, the supervision needs to occur during registration and meet NSRP requirements. The NSRP has generally not had a problem accepting the year of post doc, supervised practice complete by applicants in Ontario. Proof of supervision must be provided by the regulatory body. One would still require a supervisor in NS until they complete all requirements of candidacy here.

2. No. If you pass the EPPP in another jurisdiction then NSRP will accept the verified score from that jurisdiction.

3.There is no specific jurisprudence exam. However, the Oral Exam covers some provincial law and applicants are required to review and familiarize themselves with local jurisprudence through the NSRP’s attestation process.
