REGULATING PSYCHOLOGISTS IN NOVA SCOTIA SINCE 1980

I am looking for guidelines for telepsychology for psychologists registered in NS, seeing clients in NS, but who are located outside of the province or country.

That is, if a psychologist remains registered in NS, but moves, can they maintain their practice via telehealth?My husband is in the armed forces and was recently promoted, which sparked questions about a temporary posting outside of the country. This would not happen for a few years, because of the pandemic, however, I thought I would start investigating my options for maintaining my license and practice should this happen.

To answer your question, if you are a registered psychologist in Nova Scotia and move out of the Country, you can still maintain your Nova Scotia registration (i.e., you can be registered in more that one jurisdiction during the same timeframe). This would allow you to see current clients in Nova Scotia via telepsychology. However, if you need to treat clients outside of NS, you would need to contact the respective jurisdiction where those clients will be located, as normally the jurisdiction where the client is located is seen as having jurisdiction over the practice of psychology.
