I am wondering if there are any rules around how long someone can remain on the candidate register?

The rules are not specific to the length of candidate registration but would apply more to the timeframes for different requirements such as the EPPP, Oral Exam, and Supervised Practice Period. The EPPP should be passed within 2 years or the candidate would be required to withdraw from the register. If a candidate has taken a leave from the register this could extend the timeframe of candidacy. As well if they have worked only part-time then it would take longer to accrue the minimum period of supervised practice. For example, if they worked half time for their entire period of candidacy it would take 8 years to reach the equivalent of 4 years of full time supervised practice required for registrants with a master’s degree. Once the minimum period of supervised practice has been completed then we would expect the candidate to file the paperwork to schedule the oral exam.
