REGULATING PSYCHOLOGISTS IN NOVA SCOTIA SINCE 1980

I have received the application checklist below. The Child Abuse document I will forward. I will arrange for a masters degree transcript to be sent.

My problem with the other requirements, those involving a supervisor’s report, is that anyone who supervised my practical work at Boston University is no longer around. Also, the only registered psychologist (Newfoundland) who could comment on my professional work as a psychologist was the Chair of the Department of Educational Psychology at Memorial University when I was an assistant professor and registered psychologist at the university. He still has a LinkedIn page so I assume he is available. Would a reference from him suffice?I have met with the Annapolis Valley school board where I am to work as a school psychologist. Officials there wonder if some supervision by the psychologists already employed by the board would support the registration.

If you have other suggestions for solving this problem, please let me know.

I will respond to address the matter of references and the verification of practica / supervision.

Please obtain 3 references including one from the psychologist as you outline. I understand that out of 3 references, he is the only psychologist. I would still think it important to have 2 other references who could speak to your work, even if they are not psychologists.

I think it would also be helpful if you could outline your practica / supervised work experience that was completed as part of your degree. This could be included in a cover letter to support your application.

The NSRP would have to assess your completed application before we recommend that you undertake supervision,Once the NSRP reviews your completed application, it will be in a position to make a decision and possibly make further suggestions that are in keeping with our legislation.
