I am completing the psychology practice form as part of my application andnhave a question for you. My degree is in counselling psychology, however, myninternship and professional trainings (such as continuing education workshops) have all been in clinical psychology and all of my supervision has been under clinical psychologists. I understand that it is very important to practice in the area of psychology in which my degree is in; given my that my supervision, training and internship have been innclinical psychology, would it be appropriate to list 25% clinical psychology and 75% counselling psychology as intended areas of practice?Any guidance would be much appreciated.

In this case, NSRP would still recommend that she declare counselling psychology only, since that is the stated concentration of the program from McGill, but she is welcome to state what she has stated in her email when applying for registration. This information could be placed in a cover letter and added to her file. By way of information, generally the NSRP recognizes that there can be overlap between practice areas, so we would not be placing a functional restriction on what she can do if she has the specific training. However, the NSRP does not look to have applicant’s labelling their intended area of practice as clinical psychology unless they come from a program that is labelled as clinical psychology program.
