I wonder if you could provide some clarification for me. Is it permissible under our statute that a non-psychologist can be the owner of a psychological services company in Nova Scotia?

As you know, the Regulated Health Professions Act and the Psychology Regulations prohibits individuals from using terms such as “psychologist”, “psychology”, “psychological” and their derivatives by those who are not allowed use of restricted titles under the Act. When this question was reviewed by legal counsel in the past, the advice provided was that the Act does not prevent a non-psychologist from owning a psychology practice. However, there should be at least one individual at the practice who is a psychologist. I have forwarded your correspondence to the Registrar.
