As of November 24, 2025, the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP) has transitioned to the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
This change modernizes the regulation of psychology in Nova Scotia and brings us under the same legislative umbrella as most other regulated health professions in the province. It strengthens public protection through greater transparency and more consistent, fair processes—while maintaining the high standards of practice Nova Scotians expect.
What has changed
- Our official name is now the Nova Scotia Regulator of Psychology (NSRP).
You will gradually see this new name appear on the website, in correspondence, and on the public register.
What has NOT changed
- Registration and renewal processes remain the same.
- All current registrations and licences continue without interruption.
- Interprovincial mobility agreements are unaffected.
Day-to-day operations, including complaints and discipline processes, continue as before.
Benefits of the new framework
The RHPA provides independent statutory committees, clearer decision-making processes, and increased public transparency—all while supporting psychologists in delivering safe, competent, and ethical care.
We are committed to a seamless transition. Over the coming weeks we will share the new bylaws (approved November 24, 2025), information about committee structures, and any minor procedural updates—none of which will affect current registration or practice.
Thank you for your continued trust in Nova Scotia’s psychologists and in our role as their regulator.
