If someone would like you to give her a call regarding a refund. I have told her that I do not have anyone available at the moment. As you know, I sent her an email with the rationale. She says she tried to contact us in December but because of the holidays was unable to talk to someone and since she was anxious, she felt she had better pay the full fee. I told her that she could have paid in November and had a reduced fee and she acknowledged this but gave no explanation on why she didn’t pay early.

I am currently on the candidate registry and working full-time for NSHA (since Nov. 2020). I looked at the FAQs for Candidate Registrants on the NSBEP website. It indicates that a registrant is permitted to work in the private practice of another psychologist. I have some follow-up questions to this point:Must the psychologist be doing private practice full-time? Or may I practice in a psychologist’s private practice, who is practicing part-time?Is it permissible to work in this psychologist’s private practice space, even if he is not on site? (but if he can still provide evaluative feedback to my Board Supervisor following, e.g., review of assessment work or meetings with myself re: progress with clients).

To answer your question, the NSRP does not require its registrants to obtain consent if they intend to incorporate. There is nothing in our statute or policy which would prevent registered psychologists from incorporating their psychological practice. I am a doctoral student at McGill University in the Educational and Counselling Psychology program and intend to register in Nova Scotia as a psychologist. I am currently completing practica in Neuropsychological Assessment and Therapy as a supplement to my program.
I was wondering if you could provide more detail with regards to declaring competencies. Would extensive practicum/internship hours be sufficient for me to declare competency in neuropsychological evaluation? Or are there specific course, supervision, etc. requirements to be able to declare competencies? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I was told that the registrar said at a residency seminar that there is flexibility on something like this. I completed Phase 1 of EMDR Basic Training via an EMDRIA supported course in October 2018. I am scheduled to complete Phase 2 in March 2019. Part of the training entails doing EMDR Therapy with clients and having teleconferences along the way with the EMDR facilitators and students. Being on the candidate register was a requirement to take the training. My workplace has stated they believe that a candidate register psychologist cannot do EMDR Therapy with any clients until they are a fully registered/licensed psychologist and that to do the therapy puts my license in jeopardy. Is this accurate??Can you please provide some direction on the matter?

I am currently under supervised practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, employed part time at both a hospital and a private practice. However I will be moving to Nova Scotia in the fall and am applying for full registration through NSBEP. Ultimately I am hoping that my hours of supervised practice accrued in Ontario might be counted towards my registration in NS, as I will be about halfway through my year of supervision at that point, however through previous correspondence with you I understand this will require applying from scratch and then petitioning for this.
I do not currently have employment or a supervisor secured in NS, as I assumed supervisors/employers would want to know that I am on the candidate register prior to accepting me. As such, I am currently in the process of filling out the online application form and was wondering about the Psychological Practice Profile. When it asks about where I will be employed, is it referring to where I will be employed during supervised practice in NS (which has not yet been determined)? Or should I fill it out to reflect my current employment in Ontario?Additionally, I was wondering whether I should indicate my request to have my hours from supervised practice in Ontario counted somewhere in my initial NSBEP application, or whether that would be a separate petition/correspondence once the initial application is approved?
